How to brew the perfect coffee
How to brew your perfect coffee
Espresso - 18 g coffee → 36 g in cup, ~28 seconds. Maximizes caramel sweetness and round body.
Filter / V60 - 15 g coffee to 250 ml water, ~93°C. The best method to taste berries and subtle acidity.
French press - 30 g coffee to 500 ml water, 4 minutes infusion. Fuller texture, ideal in the morning.
Regardless of the method, grind the coffee just before brewing and use filtered water — they make the biggest difference in the cup.
How fresh is the coffee?
We roast in small batches and ship shortly after roasting, so you can enjoy each origin at its peak.
How long does it keep?
The best taste is within 4–6 weeks of roasting. Store it in a cool, dry place, in its original sealed packaging.
Beans or ground?
If you want it ground, tell us what method you're using it for (espresso, filter, French press) and we'll prepare it accordingly.
How is it different from other origins?
Popayán has a rounded body and notes of berries with caramel. Each origin in our selection has its own profile - you can find the notes for each one in the Specifications.
What method is it most suitable for?
Works well for espresso, filter, and French press. See our recommendations under "Brewing method."
Is this a coffee for someone who's just discovering specialty coffee?
Yes, it's a balanced and accessible origin, a good starting point.
Origin
The place where it grows gives it its character. The altitude, soil, and climate are all reflected in its acidity and body.
The process
How the bean is processed after harvesting. Washed comes out clean and bright. Natural, sweeter and fruitier
Frying
A lighter roast brings out floral and fruity notes. A darker one, cocoa and caramel flavors.
Flavor profile
The notes you sense—fruity, floral, chocolatey, or nutty—tell you what to expect even before the first sip
Coffee Driven by Nature
Where does the name Vela come from?
Imagine yourself as a ship's canvas, a sail.
The wind fills you completely and carries you on the waves. The vessel you carry is filled with aromas of orange, vanilla, chocolate, and all of them together are bathed in coffee.
Vela Specialty Coffee means specialty coffee, freshly roasted here in Moldova. We bring the beans from all over the Coffee Belt, with eco-friendly sailing ships. This way we don't pollute, and you can enjoy a genuine coffee that awakens your senses.
